We are a family owned and managed abattoir & butchery business based in Gloucestershire.

From our three retail outlets we supply only the finest locally sourced red meats, poultry and game. Our abattoir is an integral component of our business, it enables us to ensure that all of the products we offer are of the highest standard and that we can be absolutely certain of their provenance.

We offer a comprehensive slaughter and packing service across a range of species, we cater especially for those with small holdings offering free advice at all stages of the process – from the delivery of your stock, the precise cuts you require, to details of packaging and labeling whether this meat is for your own consumption or distribution through Farmer’s Markets.

We have four generations and over a centuries experience in the butchery trade:

1890 – Joseph Edmund Broomhall began our butchery business in Smallheath, Birmingham.

1898 – The first abattoir is built at Alkerton Place, Eastington, our present HQ.

1905 – Our business moves from Birmingham to Tewkesbury.

1922 – We acquire the abattoir at Alkerton place, Eastington and begin to supply the local area with meat via pony and trap!

1959 – An 18 yr old Roger Broomhall opens our second retail premises in Frampton-upon-Severn, Glos.

1963 – J.Broomhall Ltd is founded.

1966 – A 22 yr old Peter Broomhall opens our third retail premises in Dursley, Glos. England win our only World Cup.
